How to organise a camping scavenger hunt
If you’re looking for something fun and challenging to do when you’re out camping, why not have a scavenger hunt! It’s very simple. Separate into even teams and choose a prize or reward to be given to the team that wins. The aim of the game is to collect a whole bunch of items on a list before the other team does and bring them back to camp– it’s that easy! You’ll need to designate a ‘hunting area’, which is the area in which your team will search for the items. Don’t make the hunting area too big, you don’t want people getting lost. It would also be really cool for each team to have a digital camera so they can photograph items that can’t be brought back to camp (like a gum tree or a spider web). Make sure the groups stay together and look for items as a team. Here is a suggested list of some of the items you can put on your scavenger list to search for, or you can make your own list:

- A feather
- Clover leaves (double for 4-leaf clover)
- Leaf with insect bite holes
- Flower
- Piece of rubbish
- Dragonfly, butterfly or other insect
- Mushrooms
- Native grass
- Native leaf
- Small branch
- Tree sap
- Interesting coloured rock
- Gum leaf
- A flat skipping stone

- Big gum tree
- Water (river, dam, swamp etc.)
- Native animal
- Native animal droppings
- Bird
- Boulder
- Interesting looking cloud
- Spider web
- Wildflower
- Ant carrying something
