Back to nature – Western Australia

Shark Bay, stromatolites, Western Australian Tourism Commission

Stromatolites were the first life form to appear on Earth over three and a half billion years ago. If that’s not cool enough, they still live in Hamelin Pool – one of the only places on the planet you can still find them! And stromatolites aren’t the only ancient creatures or land formations you’ll find in Western Australia. You can also find ancient trees in the Valley of the Giants in the Walpole Wilderness area, and ancient land formations like the Pinnacles in Nambung National Park .
