Three Sisters – Blue Mountains

From Echo Point, south of Katoomba, there are blockbuster views of the Three Sisters, where the cliff has crumbled away leaving three jagged tors. The name Three Sisters recognises an event that took place in the Dreamtime. Three beautiful sisters, Meehni, Wimlah and Gunnedoo, lived in the Jamison Valley with the Katoomba people and fell in love with three brothers from the Nepean people, but Indigenous law forbade their marriages. The brothers attempted to capture the sisters by force and caused a major battle. A witchdoctor feared the girls were in danger, and he turned them to stone to protect them, but he died in battle before he could reverse the spell.
