Canberra - Australian Capital Territory

The Molonglo River flows into Lake Burley Griffin. You will find rapids in the river’s upper reaches, as well as in the upstream tributary of Googong Dam. For something a little calmer, the ornamental Lake Burley Griffin, at 11 kilometres long and just over 1 kilometre wide, offers peaceful paddling. Launch from Commonwealth Place and paddle past the Captain Cook Memorial Jet, the numerous parks that surround the lake and the waterbirds in Jerrabomberra Wetlands Nature Reserve. Watch out for race regattas on Lake Burley Griffin that are held throughout the year. Further north, you can also paddle on Lake Ginninderra in Belconnen.
