At the northern end of Gosford’s suburban sprawl, The Entrance is where Tuggerah Lake eases its way into the Pacific Ocean. Pelicans frequent the lake, no doubt encouraged by the feeding sessions that occur at 3.30pm every day in town at Memorial Park, Marine Parade. Come to see them being fed, and learn about the habits of these long-billed anglers. Nearby Wyrrabalong National Park contrasts forest-clad headlands with pale, sandy beaches, and wetlands that are rich in birdlife. There are also Gould’s sand goannas and sand-swimming lizards in the dunes, and pods of dolphins and migrating whales at sea.
