Carcoar is a small and picturesque town, 12 km south-west of Blayney. On the National Heritage list for being the third-oldest settled village west of the Blue Mountains, it certainly has a ye olde feel to it. The dam is about halfway between Blayney and Carcoar, 1 km from the Mid-Western Hwy, and is a popular spot for fishing and swimming. Sites here are in open forest spread along the hillside above the dam. Bring ye own firewood.
