Taronga Western Plains Zoo

Taronga Western Plains Zoo, Pierre Toussaint / Tourism New South Wales

If a day at the zoo just isn’t enough, these two overnight stay options will make you feel as if you’re spending a night in the African savannah. Zoofari Lodge offers canvas-covered lodges that look like tents from the outside, but have all the modern comforts of a motel room on the inside, including heated tile floors. The lodges are located close to the animals (behind a high fence, of course), so guests can watch as zebras and giraffes wander past – perhaps just as curious to check out their neighbours for the evening as you are. Packages cater to couples and families, and include a delicious dinner and buffet breakfast, both served in the Main House. The experience also includes three behind-the-scenes tours with a guide, as well as two day’s admission to the zoo. For those after something even more adventurous, the Roar and Snore experience includes an outback dinner, night-time hike through the zoo and camping under the stars.
