Located in a gorgeous old cottage, Selkirks serves contemporary cuisine in a relaxed setting, but with elegant white tablecloths and attentive waiters. The menu highlights the best of the region’s produce and cool–temperate wines. Game meats such as venison, quail, pigeon and rabbit feature in classic dishes, and each menu item is listed together with a recommended local wine available by the glass. Leave room for dessert – a tasting plate is the best way to try a little of each sweet treat, or you may like to focus on the likes of a refreshing Champagne-poached pear with white wine, pistachio chiboust and pistachio syrup.
