Campsite
This is one of several beautiful camping spots on the Turon River, a stone’s throw from the famous gold mining town of Sofala, 45 km north of Bathurst (where you'll need to stock up on fuel). A picturesque spot beneath she-oaks, First Crossing is 5.9 km east of Sofala, at the first causeway crossing of the Turon River along Upper Turon Rd. There are toilets, wood barbecues and picnic tables here; bring your own drinking water and firewood. For all other camping needs (including some foods and fresh vegetables) or information about the area visit the very friendly and helpful people at the Sofala Souvenir Shop. Please note that you will need a licence to fish here, which you can also get at the Sofala Souvenir Shop.
