Bimbadgen Estate’s restaurant is one of the best lunch spots in the Hunter Valley to savour the area’s picturesque vine-swept hills. The food is sophisticated contemporary Australian fare, taking in some Asian influences. You may like to start a long lunch with lamb’s brains and spinach dumplings, or for something less adventurous, meat dishes like the sautéed loin of veal with sangiovese marinated figs are excellent. Tasting plates are available if you’d prefer to share, and all dishes can be enjoyed with one of the estate’s wines (which you can sample in the tasting area before you select a glass to accompany your lunch).
