When you reach the National Trust slab cottage (c. 1876) with tiny, paned-glass windows, you may think a visit to Roberts restaurant is like entering a fairytale. Sprawling rooms and tiny passageways lead to the wonderful dining area at the rear, where diners are served modern Australian cuisine with distinctive French flavours. Try the baby pheasant with wild mushrooms and, for dessert, the country baked pear and mascarpone tart or decadent homemade wild berry waffle. Roberts prides itself on selecting only the best local produce, most grown especially for the restaurant.
