Dead Horse Gully camping ground, set among enormous granite boulders, is about 2 km north of Tibooburra via the Silver City Hwy. The campground is close enough to pop into town for a dinner at one of the friendly outback pubs. Emus are a common sight in and around the camp. Wood fires are not permitted. There’s a short signposted walking track taking you through the unusual landscape – undertake the walk at sunrise or sunset and not only will the boulders seem to smoulder and glow, but you’ll also have a chance of seeing reptiles and roos.
