Australian Alps Walking Track

Completing this entire 650‑kilometre track is the ultimate bushwalking challenge, taking around eight weeks. From Walhalla, east of Melbourne, to the outskirts of Canberra, the walk follows the Great Dividing Range, exploring remote alpine plateaus and mountain peaks far away from busy roads and towns. An occasional cattleman’s hut might provide shelter, but walkers must equip themselves with tents. There are food drops for those completing the entire distance, while shorter sections of the track can be traversed by less experienced hikers.
