On the winding Alpine Way, 31 km south of Khancoban, Geehi Flats camping area isn’t recommended for large caravans and camper trailers. Despite this, the old Snowy Mountains Hydro camp spot is popular in summer for its trout fishing and swimming. The views of the western escarpment of the Snowy Mountains are very good from here and at the nearby Scammell’s Lookout. There is also a good 4WD track, linking a number of the nearby huts via a track that crosses the Swampy Plain River a number of times. Bring your own firewood and drinking water.
