ne of Bermagui’s original homesteads, perched high on a hill above Bermagui River, Bimbimbi House is a much-loved ‘bushland by the sea’ retreat that inspired a previous guest to write poetry about his stay. From the Edna Walling–inspired gardens to the haunting spotted gum forest, this is a very special place. The Riverview Suite offers two spacious bedrooms, a fully equipped kitchen, laundry, and floor-to-ceiling windows. It is fully self-contained. The Garden Room overlooks the leafy surrounds and the river, and has its own ensuite. Cosy Violet Cottage – the former ‘tacking shed’ – is a favourite with its one bedroom, lounge, bathroom and fully equipped kitchen. It offers lovely sunset views of Jaggers Bay and is ideal for birdwatchers. Generous home-cooked breakfasts are included.
