The dam’s waters cover an old gold-rush town called Yalwal; today, visitors come to the area for aquatic activities such as kayaking, swimming, fishing (the dam is stocked with rainbow trout and bass) and boating. The surrounding bushland makes it a picturesque camping spot and provides a variety of walking tracks. To get here, follow Yalwal Rd from Nowra and Burrier. The steep, unsealed road isn’t suitable for caravans. Bring your own firewood and drinking water.
