Mittagong This small and appealing town has interesting historic cemeteries and buildings. Lake Alexandra in Queen St is artificial and an excellent spot for birdwatching and walking. There is a market at the Uniting Church hall on the 3rd Sat each month. 8 km NE.
Mt Gibraltar: bushwalking trails and lookout over Bowral and Mittagong; 2 km N. Box Vale Mine walking track: begins at the northern end of Welby, passes through old railway tunnel; 12 km N. Nattai National Park: reserved to protect landforms, geological features, catchments and biodiversity in the Sydney Basin. Only low-impact activities are encouraged and there is a 3 km exclusion zone around Lake Burragorang; via Hilltop; 19 km N.
