Bundanoon is a quiet and attractive village with a European feel thanks to its green, tree-lined avenues. The first European to investigate the district was ex-convict John Wilson, who was sent by Governor Hunter to collect information on the area that would discourage Sydney convicts from trying to escape in this direction. Today the sleepy town is a popular yet unspoiled tourist destination with many delightful guesthouses and a health resort. The old-world atmosphere makes it popular with honeymooners.
