Royal National Park

Royal National Park, Australia’s first national park, hosts a range of charming wildlife. Lady Carrington Drive is well known for its lyrebirds (winter is when the males are more likely to display their feathers and sing with their unique mimicry). In the rainforest sections near the Audley and Bola Creek picnic areas, look out for the satin bowerbird’s meticulously constructed nest and listen for the eastern whipbird’s echoing call. At night, go spot-lighting for boobooks, frogmouths, possums and gliders.
