While the caves are certainly the main drawcard, other activities in the reserve include swimming in the Wombeyan Gorge, hiking, canyoning and birdwatching. The extensive and well-equipped campground is along Wombeyan Creek near the visitor centre. You’ll need to bring your own firewood, but pretty much everything else is taken care of. Book ahead for powered sites. Note: alternative accommodation is available in the form of cabins, dormitories and a cottage.

This campsite is located in Wombeyan Karst Conservation Reserve

Wombeyan Caves is one of NSW’s most stunning networks of subterranean limestone caves. The formations in Wollondilly and Kooringa caves are exquisite, and the self-guided Figtree Cave tour shouldn’t be missed. The reserve can be reached via Wombeyan Caves Rd from Mittagong or, if you have a caravan or trailer, from Taralga.
