May Gibbs' Nutcote

Nutcote is a must-see for anyone who remembers the characters of Snugglepot, Cuddlepie and the Banksia Men.

Once home to May Gibbs, one of Australia’s best-known authors and illustrators of children’s books, Nutcote is situated in the exclusive harbourside suburb of Neutral Bay.

It has been restored and furnished as it would have been in the 1930s, when May Gibbs lived there. It is now a centre for children’s literature, the arts and the environment.

5 Wallaringa Ave; (02) 9953 4453; open 11am–3pm Wed–Sun.
