Lake Mulwala This artificial lake was formed by the 1939 damming of the Murray River at Yarrawonga Weir and is now home to myriad birdlife. The eastern end has river red gums up to 600 years old. The lake is popular for yachting, sailboarding, canoeing, swimming and fishing (especially for Murray cod). The Mulwala Water Ski Club is the largest in the world with 6000 members; it offers lessons and equipment hire for skiing, wakeboarding, and banana and tube rides. Day and evening cruises can be booked at the visitor centre.
