Ballina coast

Shelly Beach is one in a string of powderwhite beaches that stretch from Ballina to Lennox Head. The beach is patrolled in peak season, and there are rockpools perfect for paddling. Lighthouse Beach (Ballina’s main beach) is also patrolled, but if you want to escape the crowds, try Angels or Sharpes beaches to the north (Sharpes has good surf). Watch for dolphins along this coast all year round, and from elevated points you may be able to spot migrating humpback whales during June to July and September to October.
