Bundjalung National Park
Bundjalung National Park stretches between Iluka and Evans Head and protects one of the state’s last wild coastal rivers, the Esk. On Ten Mile Beach, the area around Black Rock campground has banksia and paperbark heathland, attracting honeyeaters as well as grey-headed flying foxes, which visit at night while raptors wheel overhead. From Woody Head into World Heritage-listed Iluka Nature Reserve in the south, rare coastal rainforest invites regent bowerbirds, noisy pittas and many other species, especially when the fig trees are fruiting.
