The low-key shacks, caravan parks and shops of Lennox Head sprawl along Seven Mile Beach. The beach, in fact, falls short of its name at 8.5 kilometres, but no one seems to mind. Horse trails run along the beach and swimming patrols operate seasonally. Metres from the surf is the tea-tree flanked Lake Ainsworth, a favourite spot with windsurfers. Lennox Head itself is a great place for whalewatching (see Ballina coast, above), and off this headland, experienced surfers pursue the long right-hander called The Point.
