This campsite is located in Elsey National Park

Enjoy swimming in thermal pools and fishing or canoeing on the Roper River. There are also 21 km of riverside walking tracks. This beautiful national park of 13 840 ha is 100 km south-east of Katherine. The birdlife is prolific. Boat ramps and canoe launching areas are found at 12 Mile Yards, near the camping area, and at Mataranka Homestead, but outboard motors are limited to a maximum of 15 hp. The park is closed if conditions are too wet; call the parks office to be sure of access. Bitter Springs is reached via a sealed road leading north-east from the Mataranka township. To access the rest of the park, head 1.5 km south of Mataranka on the Stuart Hwy and take Homestead Rd.
