Nitmiluk National Park
Hiking and walking
The 65‑kilometre Jatbula Trail roams across the edge of the Arnhem Land escarpment, from Nitmiluk Centre at Katherine River to Leliyn (Edith Falls). It follows a plateau at one point, and then descends to various rockpools, many of which have their own waterfalls and are good for swimming. The walk can be completed in four days, but a leisurely five is better for enjoying the scenery. Another long-distance trail goes from Nitmiluk to Eighth Gorge, taking in waterfalls, rock art and classic Katherine River scenery. Day walkers can reach Sweetwater Pool from Leliyn, or Northern Rockhole from Nitmiluk along the Jatbula Trail.
