Camping is on a lovely stretch of river alongside a paperbark forest for shade and with riverside fishing. There is a camp kitchen, toilets and shower. The traditional owners offer guided walks and bush-food walks along the river and lagoon and through the forest. Basic provisions are available from the Bulman store. Note: alcohol is not allowed.

This campsite is located in Arnhem Land

Arnhem Land is becoming more and more accessible for people who want a unique camping experience. Permits are required to travel the Central Arnhem Rd to east Arnhem Land and there are limited places to stay on the way. The journey is an adventure: it’s a 710 km 4WD journey from Katherine to Nhulunbuy, and travellers need to be self-sufficient. The road has river crossings, corrugations and sandy stretches. But it’s all worthwhile: there are several great stops en route – in particular, Baghetti Homeland near Bulman. Once at Nhulunbuy, there are some magnificent pristine and remote camping areas to explore; contact Lirrwi Tourism for more information.
