Aileron Hotel and Roadhouse
Like many Territory roadhouses, Aileron has plenty of character. Located 132 kilometres north of Alice Springs, it is a relaxed and hospitable stopover. The motel rooms are comfortable and air-conditioned, the restaurant serves good food and the pool is refreshing. The Glen Maggie bar attracts its share of colourful characters and the Aboriginal art gallery has some good works of art on display. There is a nice walk behind the roadhouse to a hill crowned with a 17-metre-high statue of the Anmatjere Man, dedicated to Charlie Quartpot, a rainmaker who once lived in the area.
