Ooraminna Station Homestead

This station homestead provides an opportunity to experience how Central Australian pioneers lived, but in comfort. Located 30 kilometres south of Alice Springs, Ooraminna is part of a working cattle station where guests can stay in a wooden slab hut, an old stone police station, the nearby stone jail or sleep out in a swag under the stars in what is called the Pioneer Suite. The station is close to the Simpson Desert in a landscape of rocky outcrops and red sand hills. The nights are spectacular, if a little chilly during winter, though roaring campfires are provided. There is good bushwalking, birdwatching and a chance to see a working cattle station in action.
