Old Police Station Waterhole camping area
Campsite
This waterhole is great for swimming if the water levels are up, but beware of submerged logs and rocks. A 4WD is recommended to reach the campsite, and the road may be unsuitable in wet weather. Campsites here are widely spaced, but you will need to bring your own drinking water and firewood. Take the road to Hatches Creek off the Stuart Hwy, 44 km north of Barrow Creek. Travel along this for 165 km, then follow the signposted turn-off for 8 km.
This remote location is well worth the drive in and you should allow a few nights to enjoy the quiet and peace of the campsites next to the waterhole. Birdlife is abundant on and around the waterhole and it is quite possible that you will have the entire site to yourself.
