A 4WD is not essential but is recommended to reach this site, and the road may be unsuitable in wet weather. Camping facilities are limited and you’ll need to bring your own firewood and drinking water. From the Stuart Hwy, 27 km north of Wauchope, take the Kurundi Rd east for 70 km, then follow the sign for 23 km.

This campsite is located in Iytwelepenty-Davenport Range National Park

Described by many who go there as one of the most beautiful parks in the Red Centre, Itwelepenty/Davenport Range National Park has rolling ranges and a network of permanent waterholes that provide a refuge for animals. A day’s drive north of Alice Springs, it doesn’t get the number of visitors as other parks, such as West MacDonnell National Park, so is perfect for those who want to soak up its quiet beauty. There are some easy walks and it is possible to swim at the Old Police Station Waterhole when the water level is high. Access from the Stuart Hwy can be rough and quite corrugated and the road from the Barkly Hwy can have extensive bulldust holes.
