Devils Marbles camping area
The simple camping area is 1 km east of the hwy, with signposted access 9 km north of Wauchope. No generators are allowed; bring in your own firewood and water, and note that dogs are only permitted in the campground (not on walking tracks). The campsites all surround a large carpark/turnaround and there is little shade, but a stopover here is still worthwhile for viewing or photographing the rock formations at sunset and sunrise. There is a 15 min self-guided walk from the carpark.

This campsite is located in Karlu Karlu-Devils Marbles Conservation Reserve
Enjoy the spectacular piles of red and orange granite boulders here, best observed at sunset and sunrise, when they seem to glow from within. There is a self-guided walk, and budding landscape photographers will be in heaven. There is no specific location from which to view or photograph the rock formations, so a wander around well in advance of sunset is recommended if you wish to scope out a pleasing scene. The 1802 ha reserve spreads over both sides of the Stuart Hwy, nearly 400 km north of Alice Springs.
