Blue Lagoon camping area
With beautiful walking trails to the nearby lake and close proximity to the surf beach, this camping area is in a gorgeous spot on the eastern side of the island between Middle Rd and Cape Moreton. Trailers and caravans are permitted, but due to the soft sand on the one-way track they are not recommended. Bring your own firewood and treat or boil the water before drinking, or bring that along too.
How to book: NPRSR 13 7468 www.nprsr.qld.gov.au Permits: camping permit required
This campsite is located in Moreton Island National Park and Recreation Area
Regarded as the jewel of Moreton Bay’s sandy islands, Moreton Island is a haven for off-road adventurers (it's 4WD only) looking for a wilderness experience within easy reach of Brisbane. Here, only a 2 hr barge trip from the mainland, are long sandy beaches, clear freshwater lagoons, wildflower heaths and some of the highest sand dunes in the world. Anglers should check the Moreton Bay Marine Park map before casting off, as fishing is prohibited in some areas of the coast. Advance booking is required for camping.
