Matt Moran’s Brisbane restaurant is the northern equivalent of its Sydney stablemate, so you can expect fine dining, fine service and top-quality food with prices to match. The $105 steak is a piece of wagyu cooked and served to perfection, but steak lovers still have more reasonably priced options from the grill – the slow-cooked beef cheek sprinkled with an orange and pistachio crumble is excellent. The menu also offers choices of lamb, seafood, poultry, and a pasta rotolo of cavolo nero and feta with a salad of fennel, capers and broad beans for vegetarians. This is no place to count dollars or calories, so go for the whole three courses from entrées such as Peking duck consommé with duck dumplings to desserts like champagne jelly with berries and yoghurt sorbet. MasterChef Australia fans will want to try the Valrhona chocolate dessert as seen on TV (although the menu does change and you may have to settle for something different).
