Roma Street Parkland

This huge subtropical garden is a wonderful haven in Brisbane’s city centre and an easy walk from Queen Street through King George Square. The 16 hectares of parkland include landscaped gardens, Queensland’s largest public art collection and hundreds of unique plants. Meander along the network of pathways or simply escape from the summer heat under the shade of one of the many mature trees. Kids can spend time in the playground or play on the Celebration Lawn. There is a lake precinct and a subtropical rainforest, and the Spectacle Garden is the parkland’s horticultural heart. Enjoy a barbecue in one of the many picnic areas or have someone else do the cooking at the parkland’s cafe. There are brochures for self-guide themed walks, or you can take a guided tour or hop on the trackless train that travels the paths.
