Thala Beach Lodge

Deluxe bungalows for two set in 60 hectares of wooded headland feature in this privately owned small hotel. They are built on tall timber poles and overlook either forest or parts of the 2 kilometres of secluded beaches and coves here. The lodge is surrounded by the ocean on three sides and accessible only through a private road. A regular shuttle bus takes guests on the ten-minute trip to the village from here, if you can tear yourself away. Elders from the local KuKu-Yalanji community visit to share their stories and demonstrate traditional didgeridoo-playing, integrated into contemporary music. There’s also a wellness studio.
