This campsite is located in Wooroonooran National Park
Part of the Wet Tropics World Heritage Area, Wooroonooran National Park boasts the 2 highest mountains in Qld, including Mt Bartle Frere, along with wild rivers, spectacular waterfalls and lush rainforests, which blanket the landscape from foothills to summits. Widely regarded as one of the most scenic areas of the Wet Tropics, yet receiving few visitors, Wooroonooran is one of Qld’s best-kept secrets. The Misty Mountains Wilderness Walking Tracks pass through Wooroonooran; the campsite at Downey Creek is for hikers only. A small number of self-registration sites are available at Goldsborough Valley, but advance bookings are required for all other areas.
