Spend much time in these parts and you will notice a lot of places and spaces bear the name Williams. Williams Lodge has been the family home on and off since 1915. Along with the Lake Eacham Hotel, also a Williams’ acquisition when the first generation started buying up the town, it was a social hub for Australian and US troops stationed nearby in World War II. In appreciation of the family’s hospitality, the troops built the dance floor. In 2002 a fifth-generation Williams, Craig, restored the family home and it now offers accommodation in five luxurious suites. Guests will find history and heritage oozing from every timber wall of the lounge. If the pianola starts to roll of its own accord, just put it down to friendly Williams’ ghosts.
