Hundreds of anglers make the annual trip to Kowanyama every year during barramundi season to experience some of the best fishing the Far North has to offer. Topsy Creek, about 45 km west of the Kowanyama Aboriginal community, is open June–Sept. There is a boat launch for small boats. Bring all self-sufficient supplies. Note: due to limited space, permission to camp is essential on this traditional land and advance bookings are recommended; alcohol is prohibited on Kowanyama lands; heavy penalties apply.
