Carnarvon National Park

The wildlife will come to you if you stay at the Carnarvon Gorge camping area in Carnarvon National Park. Whiptail wallabies, eastern grey kangaroos, kookaburras, rainbow lorikeets and brushtail possums are all regular visitors. Walking trails tracing Carnarvon Creek take you to platypus viewing areas, and the walk to Boolimba Bluff is especially good at night, when you can spotlight yellow-bellied gliders. You might also see, or at least hear, greater gliders, sugar gliders, southern boobooks and powerful owls.
