Mount French camping area
Although Frog Buttress is unsuited to vehicular camping, 2 vehicle campsites suitable for caravans or camper trailers (but not tents) are available in the carpark of the Mt French section of the park. No facilities are provided, but the carpark is a short stroll from the Mt French day-use area’s facilities, which include BBQs, toilets and picnic tables. Bring your own firewood for use in the wood BBQs or a gas/fuel cooker. Note: this camping area is allocated on a first-come, first-served basis and you need to book a permit in advance for Frog Buttress to access it.
This campsite is located in Moogerah Peaks National Park
This small national park includes a number of isolated mountain peaks, such as Mt Edwards (632 m), Mt French (579 m), Mt Greville (770 m) and Mt Moon (784 m), the result of volcanic activity in the area some 22 million years ago. The vegetation on the mountains is mainly open eucalypt forest, with spotted gum, grey gum and stringybark. Advance bookings are required for camping.
