Like Old Hut Site camping area, this campsite is located in the ‘saddle’ between the east and west peaks of Mt Barney, and is surrounded by remnant rainforest. It is a 4–5 hr challenging hike (including exposed rock climbs) from Yellow Pinch Reserve on Upper Logan Rd, and the campsite is closed every year through Dec–Jan. There are no facilities and fires are prohibited, so bring all self-sufficient gear, including drinking water and a gas/fuel stove.

This campsite is located in Mount Barney National Park

As one of the state’s largest areas of pristine vegetation, World Heritage–listed Mt Barney National Park on the Qld–NSW border is a mecca for experienced bushwalkers and climbers. Out of this rugged wilderness rise 7 peaks, of which Mt Barney is the highest. The Yellow Pinch picnic area at the base of Mt Barney provides wheelchair-accessible toilets, BBQs and tables. Bush camping areas have no facilities. Advance bookings are required to camp here.
