Caravan-based campers with self-contained facilities can use the clearing on the northern side of the Barcoo River, about 500 m from the centre of Blackall. All visitors must register at the information centre on Shamrock St; no tent-based camping is permitted. On the Landsborough Hwy, 108 km south of Barcaldine, Blackall features a statue of sheep shearer Jackie Howe, who in 1892 set a world record by shearing 321 sheep with hand shears in under 8 hours.
