Hugely popular with tourists passing through, this historic site was where explorers Burke and Wills were expecting to meet the remainder of their 1861 expedition party; however, all they found was the blazed tree and a limited amount of supplies buried. Burke later died under the tree. The campground is beside Cooper Creek with signposted access off the Adventure Way. For supplies, travel 55 km south-west to Innamincka. Note: a fee is charged to visit the reserve, but not if you’re camping.
