Camping for self-sufficient campers is permitted at Broadwater Waterhole, 2 km north of the access road. There are no walking tracks, but the waterhole is a great spot for watching wildlife such as birds and turtles. Fires are prohibited; bring drinking water and a gas/fuel stove.

This campsite is located in Lochern National Park

Protecting more than 24 000 ha of habitat rich with lagoons and waterholes, Lochern National Park is 150 km south-west of Longreach and 330 km south of Winton. Take a drive along the 40 km (2–4 hr) scenic route through woodlands to the flood plains of the Thomson River. To get here, follow the signposted access off Longreach–Jundah Rd, 100 km south of Longreach.
