Bush camping is permitted on Carlisle Island, at the entrance to the Whitsunday Passage. Toilets and picnic shelters are the only facilities, so bring all self-sufficient supplies. The surrounding coral reefs provide excellent snorkelling but beware of marine stingers Oct–May.

Located 32 km north of Mackay, Brampton Islands National Park encompasses 2 islands, Brampton and Carlisle. From open eucalypt forests on the islands’ ridges to the fringing coral reefs, these traditional lands of the Indigenous Ngaro people are rich with wildlife. Beware of marine stingers Oct–May. Advance bookings are required for camping.
