Bush camping is permitted in the fore dunes along the eastern coast of Cape Palmerston. There are no facilities or amenities provided, so bring all self-sufficient camping gear, including drinking water, rubbish bags and a raised fire container/brazier – bring your own wood – or a gas/fuel stove.

This campsite is located in Cape Palmerston National Park

The rocky headlands, rainforests and sand dunes of Cape Palmerston National Park lie 115 km south-east of Mackay. There are 3 bush campgrounds in the park, some great spots for fishing, and you can walk to Cape Palmerston for beautiful views of Northumberland Isles and Mt Funnel. Access is by 4WD only via Cape Palmerston Rd, off Greenhill Rd from Ilbilbie, on the Bruce Hwy. Advance bookings are required for camping.
