This campground for self-sufficient campers is 7.5 km south of Mulligan Falls at the southern trackhead of the Thorsborne Trail. It can also be accessed by private boat or sea kayak. Water can be collected from Mulligan Falls. A maximum 2-night stay applies.

A tropical island with stunning postcard-perfect scenery, Hinchinbrook is Australia’s largest island national park. Off the north Qld coast, 8 km east of Cardwell, Hinchinbrook is home to sweeping sandy beaches, rainforests and rugged mountains, dugongs, green turtles and other marine life. For hikers, one of the main attractions is the 32 km (3–5 day) Thorsborne Trail on the island’s east coast. Advance bookings are required for camping.
