This campsite on the north-east of the island, just west of Cape Sandwich, is accessible only by boat. There are no facilities and fires are prohibited; bring all self-sufficient camping gear, including drinking water, rubbish bags and a gas/fuel stove.

A tropical island with stunning postcard-perfect scenery, Hinchinbrook is Australia’s largest island national park. Off the north Qld coast, 8 km east of Cardwell, Hinchinbrook is home to sweeping sandy beaches, rainforests and rugged mountains, dugongs, green turtles and other marine life. For hikers, one of the main attractions is the 32 km (3–5 day) Thorsborne Trail on the island’s east coast. Advance bookings are required for camping.
